IN THIS PROJECT

[01The question](https://fieldwork.hoplyy.com/module-library/projects#fw-chapter-fw_module_4-1)[02Our approach](https://fieldwork.hoplyy.com/module-library/projects#fw-chapter-fw_module_4-2)[03What the team received](https://fieldwork.hoplyy.com/module-library/projects#fw-chapter-fw_module_4-3)

01

## The question

A former riverside mill had a future as a mixed-use neighbourhood. Before the team could move confidently into design, they needed to understand how the site history, river corridor and habitats related to one another.

The brief brought several disciplines together around one decision: what information would give the design team a reliable starting point?

02

## Our approach

A shared site review connected land quality, ecology and water specialists. Existing records were considered alongside field observations, with questions and limitations made visible to the wider team.

Regular project conversations kept the evidence connected to the emerging design, rather than presenting each discipline as a separate report.

03

## What the team received

The illustrative output was a coordinated constraints plan, a record of the available evidence and a prioritised scope for further work. It gave the design team a common reference for its next conversation.

This is a fictional project created to demonstrate how the Fieldwork case study template presents a technical story.

## Maya Ellis

Maya brings environmental specialists and project teams into the same conversation. Her work begins by understanding the decision a client needs to make, then shaping an evidence programme around it.

She leads multidisciplinary projects through early scoping, design development and planning, with an emphasis on clear communication and useful handovers.
